The Maier Project The Maier Project

The Project

Founded in February 2006, the Maier Project took its first breath in early spring when experiments with loops formed the skeleton of the very first song „Erl“, the intro of „My Life in an Elven World“. Conceived as a virtual group of musicians with hidden identity, the MP rapidly transformed into a platform to reflect private events and adventures. This concept has been changed with the release of the first lyrics in our songs.
The initial pretence was the use of instrumental music creating a mirror of persons and things that are important to us. After all, this concept has led to thirty songs on three compact discs up to the end of 2007.

The first album with lyrics, "A Gallery of Dreams", has been released in the end of November 2008. The introduction of the voice gave a significant kick to the music of the MP which led to the release of the  highlight of their hitherto existing albums, "Dragons", in 2010.

The musical history of the MP started with groups like Yes and Peter Gabriel´s Genesis, nowadays Steven Wilson´s Porcupine Tree is one preferred source of recreation. Other favourites are Van der Graaf Generator and Peter Hammill´s solo work which, in all these years, has been and still is a constant companion.

Our music is the mirror of what had formed our musical taste and an attempt to create music we ourselves would like to listen to. The first instrumental releases have been the introducing steps to learn the trade, to get used to the technical tools. "Dreams" has been the crucial test and the onset of the actual journey the MP has begun. "Dragons" was the first peak in their musical development. It was the first album of the MP which is presented by international music stores around the world. "States Of Aggregation" follows in January 2012.
